Daughter of Adriaan “Edward” Ockers and Gertrude J. Van Popering, wife of Alfred L. Van Emmerick, whom she married on August 23, 1930 in Malverne, NY, and mother of Janet and Alfred Van Emmerick.

In 1910, Hazel M. Ockers, aged 1, was living on Cherry Street, Islip, NY, in the home her parents, Edward Ockers, aged 31, and Gertrude J. Ockers, aged 28, with siblings, Edward Ockers Jr., aged 6, and Wilhelmina Ockers, aged 4. Her father was shown to be a wholesale oyster dealer.

Obituary – Hazel Mae Van Emmerik, 80, of Englewood, Florida, died on December 13. Born in West Sayville, she had lived in this area most of her life.

Mrs. Van Emmerik was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, and one son, Alfred. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Albrecht and her son Warren; her brother, Edward Ockers, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends visited at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A religious service was held at the funeral home, with Dr. John W. Smith, Pastor of New Life Community Church, Sayville, officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery, Sayville.
