🌟 Time Travel Alert: Unearthing 1929 GemS from SHS History!

Behold this treasure: A stunning snapshot of Rose Augusta Wachlin’s 1929 SHS class pin and ring—a glittering glimpse into Sayville’s past.

Meet Rose (1911–1961): Tenth of twelve children, she carved her name into history as the first in her family to graduate high school. While siblings stepped into work, marriage, or faced untimely goodbyes, Rose walked the stage—a trailblazer with grit. 💪

Her Story Unfolds:
💍 Married Henry Jacke at Sayville’s St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in June 1947.
✈️ Power duo alert! Both Rose and Henry soared in careers at Republic Aviation—a titan of WWII innovation.
🏡 Life came full circle: She passed in the same home she was born in—87 Lakeland Ave.—leaving behind a legacy woven into Sayville’s streets.

Family Ties: Survived by her husband, two brothers, four sisters, and a community that still cherishes her memory. Shoutout to Steven Wachlin (SHS ’66) for sharing this photo and story, with nods to the Suffolk County News for filling in the blanks!

🚀 Why This Matters: Rose’s pin isn’t just jewelry—it’s a symbol of resilience, family sacrifice, and the quiet revolutions that shape our town’s history. Got your own SHS artifact or story? Share it with us! Let’s keep Sayville’s legacy alive. 💙
