For alumni living in town or back for a visit, here’s what’s on in Sayville this Columbus Day weekend:
Friday, October 9 — 6:00 PM — Golden Flashes at Shoreham-Wading River
The 4-0 Golden Flashes hit the road — Sayville travels to Shoreham-Wading River for a 6 PM kickoff. SWR sits at 2-2, and their junior quarterback threw for 348 yards and 6 touchdowns against Babylon earlier this season, so the Flashes’ defense (just 18 points allowed all year) will be tested.
Friday, October 9 — 9:00-10:00 AM — Silent Sneakers Indoor Walk
The Sayville Library (88 Greene Ave.) hosts its indoor walking group — registration is required, and only signed-up walkers are admitted at 9.
Friday, October 9 — 12:00-4:00 PM — Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council
Stop by the Sayville Library for information from the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council.
Saturday, October 10 — 9:00 AM-2:00 PM — Sayville Farmers Market
Start the day at the Islip Grange (10 Broadway Ave.): fresh produce, baked goods, honey, pickles, and more from local vendors.
Daily — 11:00 AM — Sayville Shenanigans Scavenger Hunt
A daily scavenger hunt stepping off from the Sayville Bean Coffee House (59 Main St.), $25 per person, running through November 26.
Friday-Monday — Sayville Theater: “Other Mommy”
The Sayville Theater’s “Other Mommy” (rated R) is now playing, with showtimes running Friday through Monday.
Friday-Monday — Long Island Fall Festival
Heckscher Park in Huntington hosts the Long Island Fall Festival — free admission and parking, with a carnival, some 300 vendors, and live music. Friday 5-10 PM, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM-10 PM, Monday 11 AM-5 PM.
Saturday-Monday — Hicks Nurseries Apple Harvest Weekend
Hicks Nurseries hosts its Apple Harvest Weekend — free admission and parking, 8 AM-6 PM daily, with the Country Market (10-5) serving cider donuts alongside food trucks.
Weather: Friday looks made for football — sunny and 71. Saturday stays dry and pleasant (partly cloudy, 65). Sunday turns wet by evening, so festival-goers should aim for the morning; Monday starts with showers before clearing.
