This Weekend in Sayville: October 2–4

For alumni living in town or back for a visit, here’s what’s on in Sayville this weekend:

Friday, October 2 — 11:00 AM — Building on the Beach (free)

Riverhead Building Supply hosts a free session — knowledge and refreshments served — at the Whyte Hall Community Center @ The Pines, Fire Island. (This one’s across the bay, not in the village.)

Saturday, October 3 — 9:00 AM–2:00 PM — Sayville Farmers Market

Start the day at the Islip Grange (10 Broadway Ave.): fresh produce, baked goods, honey, pickles, and more from local vendors — right before the Fan Fest kicks off at 11.

Saturday, October 3 — 11:00 AM–4:00 PM — 6th Annual Sayville Fan Fest

The Sayville Library (88 Greene Ave.) goes full galaxy far, far away: this year’s Comic-Con-style Fest is all things Star Wars — giant Dejarik (holochess), cantina mocktails, a Star Wars retro arcade, RC podracing, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, plus vendors and artists. Free admission.

Saturday, October 3 — 12:30 PM — Crawl for Cameron

The pub crawl steps off at The Portly Villager (261 W Main St). $30 to join: limited-edition pub crawl shirt, raffles and door prizes, drink specials at every bar. Benefits the Chordoma Foundation.

Good weather news for the outdoor events: Saturday looks mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s (National Weather Service), so no weather worries.

Thursday warm-up — the original Star Wars on the big screen

A special screening of Star Wars (1977) exactly as audiences saw it — no CGI, and Han shoots first — at the Sayville Theater, Thursday October 1, 7:00–9:00 PM. $5 gets you the ticket, a fountain drink, and popcorn. Registration closes Thursday at 7 PM.
