In Memoriam: Walter Hynes, Class of 1972

We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Walter Hynes, a cherished member of the Class of 1972.  During this very difficult time, our hearts go out to his family, friends, classmates, and teachers.

Walter Hynes, age 72, lifelong resident of Sayville area died on June 5, 2025. He graduated Sayville High School in 1972.  Walter worked as a mechanic for Envipco for 30 plus years.

Walter is survived by his brother Joseph and his wife Linda, his sister in-law Adrianne, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles in 2023.

Family will receive visitors Sunday, June 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home 683 Montauk Hwy. Bayport. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 9th 11:15 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church 240 W. Main St. Sayville. Followed by interment in the parish cemetery.

A memorial page has been created in Walter’s honor.  The Sayville Alumni Association will remember Walter annually on his birthday, May 16th. We hope this remembrance will provide solace to those who knew and loved him.
