The passing of Sheryl L. (Schaper) Friedrick, Class of 1961.
We are saddened today to learn of the passing Sheryl L. Schaper Friedrick, Class of 1961. During this very challenging time, our hearts go out to her family, friends, and classmates.
Sheryl’s deep roots in our community came from her place in the Schaper family; a family synonymous with the heart and history of Sayville and West Sayville. She embodied their heritage of kindness and connection, making her a vital part of our town’s story. We feel her loss not just as individuals, but as a community that has lost one of its own.
Sheryl was predeceased by her parents Stanley Clarence Schaper (Class of 1937) and Marie (Douma) Schaper and her sister Charlene (Schaper) Henke (Class of 1968). She is survived by her beloved sister Sandra (Schaper) Pearson of California and a very large, extended family.
A memorial page has been created in Sheryl’s honor, and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember her annually on her birthday, June 23rd. We hope this remembrance will provide solace to those who knew and loved Sheryl.
