When we first got the call confirming that Sean had cancer, we all had the same reaction…what can we do to help? That’s exactly how Sean lived his life- always showing up for others, always giving, always caring.
We made a promise to keep him comfortable, to make sure he knew how loved he was. And that’s what we did, because that’s what he would’ve done for any of us.
Sean always looked out for me like a big brother. He had my back, called me out when I needed it, and shared more wisdom (and random facts) than anyone I’ve ever met. We could talk about anything: politics, religion, music, food, faith, our cultures…it didn’t matter. It always came back to laughter and respect.
I’ll miss you, brother. I’ll light that cigar in your honor, and think of all the good times we had. Thanks for being a friend that became family. Love you always, Sean.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Sean’s family, friends, and classmates. Sean was a beloved member of the Class of 1983, who has left us far too soon.
For those who knew him, Sean’s passing leaves a void that words can scarcely fill. He was a vibrant thread in the fabric of our class—a friend, a classmate, and a source of light whose memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. If you never had the chance to know Sean, you might wonder about the man behind the name.
We encourage you to see the video tribute to Sean, thoughtfully prepared by the Raynor and D’Andrea Funeral Homes. It is more than just an obituary. It is a window into the fascinating and amazing man that he was. Through a collection of photographs and moments set to music, you will get a glimpse of a life lived with passion, joy, and connection. You’ll see the journey of a son, a friend, a classmate—a life rich with experience and love. It’s a powerful peek in to Sean’s “one of a kind” remarkable warmth and character.
To honor Sean’s life and legacy, a dedicated memorial page has been created, offering a lasting space for remembrance and reflection. Each year on his birthday, February 28th, the Sayville Alumni Association will pay tribute to him celebrating the joy, kindness, and warmth he brought into the lives of so many.
It is our sincere hope this annual remembrance serves as a source of comfort to all who knew and loved Sean. May it keep his spirit alive, allowing Sean’s memory to shine brightly in our hearts for years to come.
The Sayville Alumni Association would like to extend a deeply felt thank you to Diane (Steffen) Martynowicz, Class of 1983, for her kindness in bringing the news of Sean’s passing to our attention and community. Diane’s thoughtful outreach to us is a poignant reminder that the connections forged here last a lifetime, and it has allowed us to collectively honor the memory of one of our own.
