Below is an obituary published by our friends at the Robertaccio Funeral Home – Patchogue 85 Medford Ave.,  Patchogue, NY 11772 (https://www.robertacciofuneralhome.com)   (631) 475-7000

Robert “Rob” Villanti, a spirited and creative soul, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 23, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY, Rob’s zest for life and passion for education left an indelible mark on the world. He departed from this life in Long Island, NY, due to heart failure, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

Rob’s journey began in the bustling streets of Brooklyn, where his innate curiosity and love for science were evident from a young age. His academic pursuits led him to Stony Brook University, where he not only completed a Master’s Degree in Science but also furthered his education with a PD in Administration. Rob dedicated his life to enlightening young minds as a Science Teacher and Department Chairperson at Great Neck Public Schools. His commitment to education was further extended through his role as an Adjunct Professor at Dowling College. Rob’s excellence in teaching was recognized when he was honored as the Science Teacher of the Year in New York, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his students and his craft.

Beyond the classroom, Rob was a man of many interests and talents. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy and solace in woodworking and weaving, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his creative spirit. As a talented textile artist, his works were infused with the same passion he brought to every endeavor. Rob’s love for gardening turned his home into a sanctuary of greenery, and his skills in gourmet cooking and baking delighted the palates of all who had the pleasure of tasting his creations. An avid reader, Rob’s thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, and his fascination with Egyptian history often found him lost in books and documentaries, dreaming of his next travel adventure.

Rob’s spiritual nature was a guiding force in his life, providing him with a compass that directed his generous and compassionate actions. He lived his life with a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and shared his wisdom generously with those around him.

He leaves behind his beloved husband, Nicholas, with whom he shared a life rich in love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they built a world filled with mutual respect, support, and an unwavering partnership that stood the test of time.

Rob’s legacy is one of inspiration and love. His generous heart, creative soul, and passionate spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. His teachings, both in and out of the classroom, have left a lasting imprint on countless lives. Robert Villanti’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his story will be retold with fondness and admiration for generations to come.

A memorial page has been created in Mr. Villanti’s honor and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember him annually on his birthday, April 23rd. We hope these remembrances will provide solace to those who knew and loved him.
