We are saddened to learn of the passing of Richard H. Schwarting, Sayville High School Class of 1967.

Richard H. Schwarting, age 75, resident of Setauket, LI., formerly of Sayville, LI., died August 1, 2025. Richard served in the Navy for several years before becoming a dedicated excavating contractor. He was a passionate volunteer with Splashes of Hope.

Richard is survived by his daughter Katherine, and his sister Jo Ann (Schwarting) Peterson. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Elizabeth Schwarting.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, August 19th 12:30 pm at Washington Memorial Park 855 Canal Rd. Coram, NY.

A memorial page has been created in Richard’s honor, and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember him annually on his birthday, October  31st. Richard will also be added to the Sayville High School Veteran’s Wall of Honor.  We hope these remembrances will provide solace to those who knew and loved him.
