We are saddened to learn of the passing of Nancy Evelyn (Shaw) Peiser, Class of 1959, on August 29, 2025 in Vermont.

Our thoughts and condolences are with her family, friends, and classmates during this difficult time.

Nancy’s life and family are deeply woven into the fabric of Sayville. A West Sayville native, she followed in the footsteps of her mother, Evelyn (Locker) Shaw, a Sayville High School graduate from the class of 1933. Nancy also found love at SHS, marrying her sweetheart, Raymond Peiser (Class of 1958).

The family’s strong ties to the area were echoed by Nancy’s daughter, Karen (Shaw) Cramton of Hollis, NH, who spoke fondly of their heritage. The extended family, including the Vanderborough, Hoek, and Locker lineages, has been a cornerstone of the West Sayville community for generations. The family recently mourned the loss of Nancy’s brother, Robert Shaw (SHS ’63), in September 2024.

A memorial page has been created in Nancy’s honor and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember her annually on her birthday, September 3rd. We hope these remembrances will provide solace to those who knew and loved her.
