Marlyn Corrado Obituary
Marlyn Marie (Meier) Corrado was born in Mineola, New York on March 13, 1939, to Joseph A. Meier and Vera Sauer Meier. She grew up in the Oakdale/Sayville area of Long Island and graduated from Sayville High School in 1957. (note: Sayville alumni records and photo are 1956).

She attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and worked in New York City prior to marrying Gerard E. (Jerry) Corrado in 1958. They settled in Sayville, New York, where she worked as a medical office manager for several decades while raising three sons, Jay, Gary, and Dan Corrado.

After Jerry’s death in 1998, she moved to Calabash, North Carolina to be closer to friends and family. She enjoyed the beach, traveling, painting, golf, and tennis. Above all, she loved spending time entertaining, often cooking Italian favorites and baking pies, cakes, cookies, and other treats.

She spent winters in Hutchinson Island, Florida, where many Sayville friends had relocated.

She is fondly remembered for her kindness, laughter, sense of style, and being the sweetest, most social person in the room. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Jay and Jane Corrado, Gary and Mylinh Corrado, and Dan Corrado and Joe Lazo; her brother, Jim Meier and his wife, Angela Meier; and her grandchildren Michael, Amanda, Lena, and Mia. She is also survived by her niece Jennifer Schultz, her husband, Dan Schultz, and their daughter, Sophia. She was preceded in death by her grand-nephew, Matthew. She is also survived by her niece Laura Glennon, her husband Paul Glennon, and their children Shane, Connor, and Cailey, as well as her niece Celeste Gedney, and her husband, Kenny Gedney. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Corrado family.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Marlyn’s family, friends, and classmates.  To honor Marlyn’s life and legacy, a dedicated memorial page has been created, offering a lasting space for remembrance and reflection. Each year on her birthday, March 13th, the Sayville Alumni Association will pay tribute to her celebrating the joy, kindness, and warmth she brought into the lives of so many.

It is our sincere hope this annual remembrance serves as a source of comfort to all who knew and loved Marlyn. May it keep his spirit alive, allowing Marlyn’s memory to shine brightly in our hearts for years to come.

The Sayville Alumni Association would like to extend a deeply felt thank you to Ginger (Fox) Farrell, Class of 1976, for her kindness in bringing the news of Marilyn’s passing to our attention and alumni community.
