We are deeply saddened and offer our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, classmates, and teachers of Linda S. (Darmstadt)  O’Connell.  Linda, a lifelong resident of Sayville was only 68 years of age.  Her tragic passing leaves a deep hole in so many hearts.

Linda S. O’Connell, 68, of Sayville, NY, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025. Linda was a lifelong resident of Sayville and Sayville High School graduate. She was an avid golfer and longtime member of Bellport Country Club where she was a former club champion. Linda also loved gardening.

Mrs. O’Connell is survived by her husband Dennis (Class of 1971), three sons, Steven and his wife Robyn of Florida, Mark and his wife Melissa of Sayville and Kevin and his wife Kristin, also of Sayville, her six grandchildren, Peyton, Brayden, Navy, Mackenzie, Kayleigh and Ryan, as well as her siblings, Sherry Simpson (Class of 1973) and her husband Thomas of Sayville and Charles “Chip” Darmstadt (Class of 1985) and his wife Alisa of Vermont. She was predeceased by her son Christopher in 2000.

Friends and relatives will gather this coming Friday, February 14th, 4-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Linda’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, are appreciated.
