We are saddened to hear of the passing of Jane L. Simmons, a member of the Class of 1989. We extend our condolences to Jane’s family, friends, classmates and teachers.
A beautiful obituary has been published by the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway, Massachusetts. Services are this week, as noted below.
Jane L. Simmons, 54, of Medway, died peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at her home.
Born in Bay Shore, New York on December 19th, 1970, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Patricia (Ticho) Simmons.
Jane grew up in Sayville, New York, and graduated from Sayville High School in 1989, where she was a talented softball player and made many of her lifelong friends. Jane’s childhood was filled with summers in upstate New York with her family and beloved cousins, who were more like siblings to her. Even after she moved away, Jane always considered New York her home and never wavered in her love for the Yankees.
In 2017, Jane moved to Massachusetts, where she began her journey to recovery. There, she met an amazing community of people who supported her and ultimately helped her reach her 8-year anniversary of sobriety in January 2025. During her time in Massachusetts, Jane dedicated her life to helping others on their recovery journey, while giving back to those who had helped her. She worked as a counselor at the Clearhaven Recovery Center, a job she loved and that brought her much joy. Her family and friends will forever be so proud of her.
While in Massachusetts, she resided in Quincy for many of those years with her beloved dog (and baby) Ruby. She was her pride & joy. Ruby was with her through the move from Long Island and every moment over the last 15 years, and passed only a few weeks before Jane. The duo is now reunited.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Walter and her husband Richard of Bohemia, New York and two brothers, Richard Simmons and his wife Denise of Medway and John Simmons and his wife Winnie of Charlotte, North Carolina.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Steven and his wife Emily, Stephanie and her husband Clay, Nicole, Johnny and his wife Sydney, Shannon, William and Thomas, two great-nephews JJ & Nolan and her great- niece Phoebe.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 6th from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway, ginleyfuneralhomes.com
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday, February 7th at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
