The passing of Enid (Burton) Jones, Class of 1942.
passed away yesterday, one day shy of her 101st birthday.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Enid (Burton) Jones, a beloved member of the Sayville High School Class of 1942. Enid left us yesterday, just one day before what would have been her 101st birthday.
Enid was a truly extraordinary woman—cherished by her family, friends, and our alumni community. Her warmth, wisdom, and enduring spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In 2021, we had the privilege of connecting with Enid through a live video call, where she shared memories of her time in Sayville, her life experiences, and the remarkable century she witnessed.
To honor her legacy, we invite you to read about Enid’s inspiring life in our “Endless Waves” remembrance section. You can also watch the recording of our heartfelt conversation with her at:
We extend our deepest condolences to her son, Henry Jones, and the entire family during this difficult time. Additional details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available.
Enid’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and the enduring bonds of our alumni community. May her memory continue to inspire us all.
Rest in peace, Enid. 💙
