The passing of Claudia Ellen Brown, Class of 1982.
The Sayville Alumni Association joins the family and friends of Claudia Ellen Brown in mourning her passing. We are grateful to her dear sister Connie (Brown) Ceklarz for kindly informing our community of this loss.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Class of 1982 and to all who knew Claudia during her time at Sayville High School and beyond. Her story of resilience began long before graduation, and her strength of character remained a defining trait throughout her life.
Claudia Ellen Brown, of East Northport and formerly of Sayville, New York, passed away on December 26, 2025, after a long illness, with her loving partner, Jay Diliberto, by her side.
Claudia was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1964, at Lakeside Hospital in Copiague, New York, to Miriam and Marshall Brown Jr.
In May 1970, Claudia was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a brain cancer. Through remarkable strength, resilience, and determination, she miraculously survived—a testament to her enduring spirit that remained with her throughout her life.
Claudia shared a beautiful life with Jay. Together they enjoyed boating and RV camping. Claudia also loved baking, cooking, and needlepoint, often creating heartfelt gifts for others. She was known for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity, always putting care into everything she did.Claudia is survived by her siblings Susan Brown and Marshall W. Brown III, both of Sayville; Barbara Brown Chasman (Marc) of Laguna Niguel, California; and Connie Brown Ceklarz (Jim) of Moorpark, California. She is also lovingly remembered by her eight nephews and two nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents, Miriam and Marshall W. Brown, Jr.
On behalf of the entire Sayville alumni community, we offer our sincere condolences to Claudia’s loving partner, Jay Diliberto, to her siblings, and to her entire family. We also share in the sorrow of her many classmates and friends. May the cherished memories of her kindness, her creativity, and her indomitable spirit provide solace.
A memorial page has been created in Claudia’s honor, and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember her annually on her birthday, November 26. We hope this remembrance will provide solace to those who knew and loved Claudia.
