The passing of

Christopher B. Bortzfield

Class of 1975.

Birth 28 May 1957
East Patchogue, Suffolk County, New York, USA
Death 27 Dec 2025 (aged 68)

We are saddened today to learn of Christopher’s passing.  During this very challenging time, our hearts go out to his family, friends, teachers and classmates.

Those who had the privilege of knowing or working with Christopher through the years understood that he consistently embodied the highest standards of dedication and character. A son of Sayville, his heart was ever on the Great South Bay, and he carried the quiet, steady confidence of one who knew the bay like the back of his hand. This love for the sea was more than a pastime; for a time, he lived it as a boat captain, where his natural leadership and meticulous care truly shone.

Christopher will be profoundly missed, on the dock, in the wheelhouse, by all who sailed with him, in the construction industry and especially, by his large and loving family .

Chris had an unmatched ability to find happiness in the simple things. His warm smile and laugh wrapped around you like a hug. He was committed to helping others, and was always guided by a North Star of doing the right thing.
