The passing of Carrie Ann (Nicosia) Garafola, Class of 1991
August 31, 1973 ~ December 4, 2025 (age 52)
We are saddened today to learn of Carrie Ann’s passing. Tragically, she was only 52 years of age. During this very sad and challenging time, our hearts go out to her family, friends, teachers and classmates.

Carrie Garafola Obituary
Carrie Ann Garafola, 52, a lifelong resident of Sayville, died on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Carrie graduated from Sayville High School in 1991. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree at James Madison University and then her Law Degree at NY Law School. Carrie worked for many years as an attorney with Traveler’s Insurance Company.Carrie is survived by her two daughters, Grace Lily and Molly Rose, her parents, Michael and Marcella Nicosia of East Patchogue, as well as her two sisters, Laurin Clemens and her husband Jim of Central Islip and Erin Lennon and her husband Christian of Patchogue. She is also survived by her former husband Christopher, Chris’s mom Phyllis Kern of Sayville, and Chris’s brother Joe and his wife Maria of Bayport, their children Olivia, Aidan, and Amelia, and by many loving family and friends.
Friends and relatives will gather on Monday, December 8th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9th at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and a private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carrie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
A memorial page has been created in Carrie Ann’s honor, and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember her annually on her birthday, August 31. We hope this remembrance will provide solace to those who knew and loved Carrie Ann.
