Sayville High School will pay tribute to an extraordinary man by naming its baseball field after Barry Fitzpatrick – the revered longtime coach and Vietnam War veteran who inspired generations of students.

The special dedication ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 before the Golden Flashes take on Mount Sinai.

Mr. Fitzpatrick’s remarkable service to both his country and community stands as a shining example of leadership and dedication. The proud veteran earned distinction as a First Lieutenant during his honorable Vietnam War service from 1969-1970, then returned home to shape young lives through his passionate coaching and mentorship at Sayville High for decades.

This permanent honor ensures Coach Fitzpatrick’s legacy of courage, character, and commitment will continue inspiring future generations of Sayville student-athletes for years to come.
