"Guarding Our Streets: One Man’s 35-Year Patrol"

Many of you likely remember Richard George “Dick” Kleever, a proud member of Sayville High School’s Class of 1944. Born on May 26, 1925, Dick passed away on January 28, 2007, at the age of 81.

He was a proud Navy veteran who served during World War II.

On May 13, 1999, Liz Finnegan of The Suffolk County News interviewed Dick, resulting in a fascinating article that we’re pleased to share with you today. We encourage you to read it and pass it along!

We owe a great deal of gratitude to The Suffolk County News for their dedication to preserving the vibrant history of Sayville and its many high school alumni. Articles like this are treasures—made possible only through their continued efforts.
