Gini Tucker (Class of 1968) serves as Co-President of the Sayville Garden Club, a dynamic organization dedicated to horticulture, environmental stewardship, and beautifying the community. The club hosts lively public events—including garden tours, flower shows, and its annual luncheon fundraiser—where attendees can enjoy camaraderie while supporting its mission.
A cornerstone of the club’s efforts is the Beautification Awards, which celebrate outstanding gardens across Sayville. In 2023, honorees included:
Tara & Jonathan Belmonte for their sculpted white hydrangeas,
Lee Miller for a diverse evergreen landscape,
Joey Iannotto for a vibrant backyard oasis, and
Butera’s Restaurant for its dazzling floral displays.
Beyond awards, the club nurtures local history through its historic herb garden at the Sayville Historical Society. Featuring plants used by early settlers—many grown in raised beds—the garden offers a living link to the past. (Explore more at sayvillehistorical.org.)
The club also empowers future environmental leaders by awarding scholarships to high school seniors pursuing ecology-related fields. Join the cause! Attend the next luncheon, tour a garden, or simply stop by to appreciate their work—your support helps cultivate Sayville’s natural beauty for generations.
