Borghild “Bobbie” Ruth (Hansen) Clark,
Class of 1942.

Can you envision attaining the remarkable age of 100?

Let us now celebrate an Alumna who has accomplished this extraordinary milestone!

On June 8, 2024, Borghild “Bobbie” Ruth (Hansen) Clark, Sayville High School Class of 1942, celebrated the remarkable milestone of an alumna who reached the age of 100, a living testament to resilience, wisdom, and perseverance.

Over the past one hundred years, she witnessed a century of profound change, from the tumultuous years of World War II (1939–1945) and the post-war rebuilding era, to the civil rights movements of the 1960s.

Bobbie lived through the space race, including the historic moon landing in 1969, and saw the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, symbolizing the end of the Cold War.

The rise of technology in the late 20th century, with the advent of the personal computer, the internet, and smartphones, transformed the world in ways she could never have imagined in her youth.

Alongside these technological revolutions, globalization reshaped economies and cultures, leading to the interconnected world we live in today.

Her life reflected the strength of those who lived through difficult times and emerged stronger, embodying the spirit of those who overcame adversity with grace and courage.

Bobbie’s longevity is a celebration of not only her personal achievements but also the enduring power of human spirit in the face of change and uncertainty.

She has now passed, and we lift a glass in her honor for a life well-lived, one full of inspiring moments and a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
