A New Name on the Wall: Dr. Jack Cush, Class of 1973
Alumni, come see who’s new on the Wall! The Sayville Alumni Association is proud to announce the newest member of our Wall of Distinguished Alumni: Dr. John “Jack” Cush, Sayville High School Class of 1973.

From the classrooms of Sayville High, Dr. Cush went on to become one of the most respected rheumatologists in the country. He is the Director of Clinical Rheumatology at the Baylor Scott & White Research Institute in Dallas and a professor of medicine whose teaching posts have included UT Southwestern Medical School and Baylor University Medical Center.
His career, by the numbers and the honors: more than 150 published journal articles; co-author of rheumatology textbooks, including a chapter in Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, the textbook generations of doctors have learned from; service on the FDA’s Arthritis Advisory Committee; and founder and executive editor of RheumNow, the online news and education network he built for his field.
And he is still, at heart, a Long Island kid — he grew up here, the son of a schoolteacher and a secretary, before Sayville sent him out into the world.
Come see for yourself — read Dr. Cush’s full profile on our Wall of Distinguished Alumni, and join us in congratulating a Golden Flash who has spent a lifetime healing, teaching, and making Sayville proud. Welcome to the Wall, Dr. Cush!
