Today, starting with out next post, we are presenting in a “one-a day” format, a fun look back 100 years — to the young men and women who graduated from Sayville High School in 1926.
Their yearbook photos capture a moment in time; faces full of promise, standing at the threshold of lives that would unfold through a remarkable century of history.
Over the coming days, the Sayville Alumni Association will be sharing one photo each day, presented alphabetically A-Z (by last name at time of graduation), all from the Sayville High School Class of 1926.
These students lived in a world very different from ours, before television, before the internet, and just a few years before the Great Depression. Yet their hopes, friendships, and dreams were surely much like those of students today.
Each photograph is more than a picture. It represents a life story, a family history, and a piece of the fabric that helped shape the Sayville community we know today, as well as many other communities.
We invite you to follow along as we take this photo journey back a century! Our first photo will be Marjorie Joan (Alford) Haley.
If you recognize a name, have a family connection, or know a story about one of these alumni, please share it with us in the comments. Together we can help keep these memories alive.
Join us as we remember the faces of the Sayville High Class of 1926!
