We are deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Phil Pasfield…

Robert Phillip “Phil” Pasfield was born in Smithtown, NY on January 15, 1985. He died in Patchogue, NY on April 26, 2019.

Phil grew up in Sayville and graduated from Sayville High School in 2003. He attended SUNY Cobleskill and graduated with an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts. He completed his advanced culinary training and restaurant management at the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan in 2008. Phil did an Internship at Anthos in Manhattan and in the spring of 2009 he began his professional career as line cook at Starr Boggs in West Hampton Beach, New York. He continued there for several seasons moving up to Chef De Cuisine. Then in January of 2017 Phil opened The Brixton in Babylon, NY as co-owner and Executive Chef.

During the winter season when Starr Boggs was closed, Phil worked with local chefs and held at a variety of culinary positions. One season he worked on the island of St. Croix. Perhaps the most notable though was the winter he was hired by a young woman to work in a local deli. This young woman, Katie his boss would become Phil’s wife. Katie Kauffman and Phil dated for several years and were married on July 15, 2016.

Phil’s passion was cooking. He was a bright and rising star in the food industry here on Long Island. He was a dedicated husband, a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a great friend. Besides cooking, Phil enjoyed traveling, visiting with family and friends, playing video games, music and watching “Game of Thrones”. He loved hiking and camping in the Adirondack Mountains, kayaking on the Great South Bay, fishing and golf. Phil is survived by his wife Katie, his parents, four siblings, 8 nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful friends.

But Phil, you were taken from us to soon. Our hearts are broken in a million pieces. We woke up today hoping yesterday wasn’t real. Losing you means losing the best friend, best son, best husband, best brother, best uncle we could have. We are so thankful for the time we had with you and for your incredible gifts. We will miss you forever. Rest in Peace our lovely Chef Phil
