The passing of William R. “Bill” Lehmann Jr., Class of 1961

We are saddened to learn of the passing of William R. “Bill” Lehmann Jr., Class of 1961 on May 2, 2026. 

During this very challenging time, our hearts go out to Bill’s family, friends and colleagues. 

Thank you to Mike and Kay Brand, as well as Ginger Farrell, for alerting us to Bill’s passing.  An obituary was published by our friends at Raynor and D’Andrea Funeral Homes which is copied below for your convenience;

William (Bill) R. Lehmann, Jr., 82, of Blue Point, NY, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026. Born and raised in Sayville, Bill graduated from Sayville High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree at Adelphi University. Mr. Lehmann worked for Grumman as a young man before becoming a partner in HSM Machine Works & Blair Insustries in 1967.

Bill sat on the Board of Directors of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years. He loved his family, his friends, the aerospace business, boating and the beach, and his golden retriever, Jack.

Mr. Lehmann is survived by his wife, Charlene, by his two children, William III “Rob” and his wife Jen of Blue Point and Kristin Dunseith and her husband Matthew of Bayport, his four grandchildren, Riley, William IV, Finley and Sage, his sister, Adlene Carrington of Florida as well as a brother, Peter and his wife Linda of Jamesport.

Friends and relatives will gather on Friday, May 8th, 3-7 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, May 9th at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church in Blue Point and interment will follow at Blue Point Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Bill’s memory to either, Church of Most Precious Blood, 1 High Street, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, are appreciated.

A memorial page has been created in Bill’s honor.  The Sayville Alumni Association will remember Bill annually on his birthday, September 25th.  We hope this remembrance will provide solace for those who knew and loved him.
