The passing of Virginia Mary (McCarty) Cernosky, Class of 1954

Virginia Cernosky Obituary

Virginia Cernosky was born on 4/11/1936 in New York City, New York. Lifelong resident of Sayville and Holbrook New York. She attended St. Lawrence the Martyr School in Sayville, followed by Sayville High School (Class of 1954).

Virginia is preceded in death by her longtime sweetheart Charles F. Cernosky (Sayvlle High Class of 1953). They were married on 4/2/1955 and enjoyed over 55 years of marriage.

After graduation, she joined her husband in Portsmouth, Virginia, for his Medic service in the United States Navy.

Upon their return to Long Island N.Y., they settled in Charles’ family home in Holbrook. They both worked at Central Islip State Hospital for over 30 years. Together they enjoyed their retirement, filled with lots of celebrating with family and friends.

Virginia is survived by daughters Donna Jo Stuerzel (Rich) and Janice Staudte (Gene). Grandchildren Ari Mayo (Alex), Ryan, Timothy & Great Granddaughter Hudson.
