The Sayville Alumni Association extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and classmates of Tom Perry, Sayville High School Class of 1981. We understand that Tom passed away in France, likely last week, following a prolonged illness. We have heard that Tom leaves behind his wife and child,

Below is a wonderful article from the Suffolk County News, published on June 22, 2000, titled “Sailing’s Career Advantage.” Authored by Marie Weiss, it offers a beautiful snapshot of Tom’s early life. We especially love the closing quote from his mother, Joan Gorin: “Growing up in Sayville and going on to a career such as this has a lot to say for the bay and what it can bring you.” It’s a simple truth that speaks volumes about the place that shaped him.
