Our hometown paper, The Suffolk County News published the obituary of Ruth Adeline (Greene) Smith, Class of 1937, on December 30, 2021.

Just two days shy of her 103rd birthday, Ruth passed away on December 25, 2021, at the age of 102.

Ruth was born December 27, 1918, to Leslie Arthur Greene Jr. and Ruth Pauline (Cook) Greene.

While we can’t yet be positive due to a few missing folks from the class of 1937, Ruth was very likely the last remaining member of that graduating class.  The Greene’s were a prominent family which include many Sayville High Alumni. We extend our condolences to Ruth’s family and friends.  We will remember Ruth every year on her birthday.
