We are saddened to learn of the passing of Robert “Bob” Lominska, Class of 1966.
March 1, 1948 – September 25, 2024
We extend our sincere sympathies to Bob’s family, friends, and classmates.
Bob’s sister Susan (Class of 1969) graciously provided us with the following information;
“I am saddened to share the news of the passing of my older brother Bob Lominska during the night last night (September 25, 2024).
His friends from Sayville High School class of 1966 will remember him as part of the folk group “ The Bimini Three” along with Adrian Van Essendelft, Jimmy Herbert, and Mike Ort.
Or, for sailing on the Great South Bay on the sailfish made by our Dad.
Families in Nicaragua will remember him for his service there in the Peace Corps in the early 1970’s.
Hundreds of former Lawrence Kansas kindergarteners will remember him teaching the songs “Country Roads” and “ Love Potion Number Nine” amongst many others.
Friends from Lawrence, Kansas will remember the beautiful organic vegetables he grew at Hoyland Farms and sold at the Merc and the Farmer’s Market. He was my hero.”
A memorial page has been established for Bob and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember him every year on his birthday. We do hope that remembering Bob on his birthday will help bring some comfort to those who knew and loved him.
