It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Joseph A. Annunziato, who died on August 10, 2026, at the age of 79. A longtime resident of Hampton Bays and former resident of Sayville, Joe spent many years as part of the Sayville community and built a lifetime of memories there.
We extend our condolences to Joe’s family, friends, former classmates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A lifelong clammer and fisherman, Joe was a true bayman who found happiness on the waters of Long Island and in the company of the family and friends he loved. His connection to the water was woven into his life, creating memories and friendships that will remain with those who knew him.
Joe was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and friend. He was the son of the late Carlo and Carmella Annunziato and brother to Marianne. He was the loving father of Jeanette, Tara, and Jill, and father-in-law to Patrick, Billy, and Sue. He was a proud grandfather and “Poppy” to Daniel, Krystiana, Molly, Erin, and Liam, and a loving great-grandfather to Jayce.
Joe also leaves behind his best friend, John, and his former wife and good friend, Dot, both of whom held a special place in his life.
Joe’s life was deeply connected to the waters of Long Island and the traditions of the bayman. His lifelong love of clamming, fishing, and being on the water was more than a pastime—it was a part of who he was. Just as important to him were the people with whom he shared those experiences and the family and friends who meant so much to him.
Family received visitors on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Highway, West Sayville. A chapel service was held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
