We are deeply grateful to Mr. Pete O’Neill for bringing to our attention the passing of his beloved son James, on July 17, 2026.  James was just 54 years of age.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to James’s family, friends, classmates, teachers and colleagues.  There are no words that can truly ease this kind of pain. It is a heartbreak that stays forever. Our hearts goes out to all as they navigate this unimaginable grief.

Jamie R. O’Neill

James R. O’Neill, 54, a resident of Bohemia, NY, died on July 17, 2026.  Jamie graduated from Sayville High School in 1990 and he went on to be a union carpenter for over thirty years.

Jamie is survived by his parents, Pete and Jeff O’Neill of West Sayville, his sister Keri Garay and her husband Michael and his nephew Deegan, all of Bohemia, as well as his partner, Erin.

His greatest pleasure was spending time on the water or his cabin in the woods; snowmobiling and anything in the snow.

Jamie had many great friends throughout his life, who all rallied behind him during his illness.  We love them all and are forever grateful that Jamie had them in his life.

Funeral Mass:  Wednesday, July 22nd 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church 240 W. Main Street Sayville

A memorial page has been created in James’s honor.  The Sayville Alumni Association will remember James annually on his birthday, June 11.  We hope this remembrance offers comfort and solace to all who knew and loved him.
