Stanley Henry Klug, Class of 1938

Stanley Henry Klug was born on July 19, 1921, in New York, New York.  At the time of his birth, his father, Adolph, was 44 and his mother, Louise, was 33.  He had a sister Helen, who married a man named Werner Zippert.

Stanley graduated from Sayville High in 1938 and before entering the military, studied engineering, which was his occupation post-WWII.

Stanley married Louise Frieda Augustine, who was born October 1921 in New York and died September 15, 1985, in Bay Shore, NY.

Stanley lived in Bay Shore, NY, and Cape Coral, Fl.

We initially presented Stanley’s story as a historical mystery, with the following facts;

1. Once lived in a “Castle”.

2. Graduated from Sayville High School.

3. Took part in D-Day at the Utah Beach landing.

4. Helped liberate Cherbourg, St. Lo, and Liege.

5. Took part in the capture of Aachen, then crossed over the Rhine and entered Cologne.

6. His Regiment was the Spearhead for General Hodges’ Ist Army.

7. Is the holder of;
*** The Silver Star
*** Meritorious Service Wreath
*** Bronze Arrowhead for landing on D-Day.
***Was honorably discharged under the Army point system having a total of 129 points to his credit.

8.  Once served as club president of the Southside Hospital Stroke Club.

We mentioned that Stanley once lived in a castle…  it is noted as his address on his WWII registration card (above).

The Stirrup Cup Castle was a very well-known and highly acclaimed restaurant.  Below are some pictures.

Here is a photo of Stanley as found in The Suffolk County News on October 28, 1976, Page 29.  Stanley was club president of the Southside Hospital Stroke Club.

Stanley died on May 4, 1995, in Bay Shore, New York, at the age of 73.  We have no information regarding a burial location or if cremated.
