Sayville History Splash; The West Sayville Tucker girls
Judith (Smith) King, Class of 1958 provides today’s Sayville History Splash! Judy writes; This is a group picture of the West Sayville Tucker sisters, daughters of John F. and Bertline Tucker. It was taken sometime prior to 1922.
They are (left to right); Margaret, Wilhelmina (my grandmother, who died at age 35 in 1922), Mildred, Effie, and Bertha Harriet. There were also 2 brothers, John and Len who were both Baymen and a sister, Jeannette. Len was a very well known Decoy carver. Margaret was an RN. Mildred a telephone operator.
My grandmother passed at 33 yrs of age from complications of the flu. I imagine that all of the siblings attended Sayville High School since they were born and lived in the same house until those who married moved out, then remaining siblings moved to the house next door. Margaret, Mildred, John, and Len never married. They lived in the same house at 75 Atlantic Avenue, West Sayville until they died.
