Greetings to everyone in the Sayville Alumni Association! My name is Tom Van Wyen, class of 1973. Since graduating from Sayville High School, life has taken me in some unexpected directions. I’ve worked on a commercial shell￾fishing boat captained by my grandfather, The Willie K; served aboard a nuclear submarine; spent many years in the nuclear energy industry before retiring as an
energy executive; and even served as a youth pastor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Along the way, I’ve also written a novel and dozens of essays exploring philosophy, character, and the art of living well…
