The Sayville Alumni Association is delighted to introduce a new recurring feature that we believe will become a favorite destination for many of our readers.

Beginning today, fellow alumnus **Tom Van Wyen (’73)** will be sharing selections from his acclaimed essay series, **The Harmony Project**.

Tom’s remarkable life journey has taken him from working aboard his grandfather’s shellfishing boat in the Great South Bay, to service aboard a U.S. Navy nuclear submarine, to a distinguished career in the nuclear energy industry, and later to ministry and writing. Throughout that journey, he has developed a gift for asking thoughtful questions about life, character, purpose, and the values that shape who we become.

*The Harmony Project* isn’t about telling people what to think. It’s about inviting us to pause, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations about the things that matter most. Drawing from philosophy, history, faith, leadership, and personal experience, Tom’s essays encourage us to examine our lives with curiosity, wisdom, and humility.
