We have lost another of our own…
June Rose (Kucera) Schlock, a member of the Sayville High School Class of 1950, passed away on September 23, 2026, as reported to the Association by Marcia Kucera.
Arrangements are as follows:
Viewing: Friday, October 2, 4:00–8:00 PM, at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, West Sayville, NY
Service: Saturday, October 3, 9:30 AM, at St. Ann’s Church, Sayville
Burial will follow.
Born June Rose Kucera, she married Herman Schlock in May 1955 at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Sayville, the Rev. Joseph H. Bond officiating. The wedding announcement ran in The Patchogue Advance on May 26, 1955, noting that Herman — a former Patchogue resident employed by the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in Calverton — and June would make their home in Blue Point. There is a quiet symmetry in it: the life she began at St. Ann’s will be honored there.
She gave her time to Sayville’s children as well, teaching homemaking. The Suffolk County News of May 1, 1969 records her at a camp-training meeting of Girl Scout Troop #1359, learning camp duties and planning a weekend camping trip to Camp Sobaco in Yaphank.
Our thoughts are with June’s family and friends. We will remember June annually on her birthday.
