Over one hundred years ago... This 1925 clipping from The Brooklyn Daily Times announces the engagement of Sayville schoolteacher Isadora Dearlove to Theodore Culbertson Travis, son of Sayville High School Principal Seward S. Travis. It is a reminder that the school's history is woven not only through its students, but through the lives of those who taught them.

Social DoingsDearlove Engaged; Sayville School TeacherSayville, June 29. — Miss Isadora Dearlove, who for a year and a half has been a member of the Sayville school faculty, has announced her engagement to Theodore Culbertson Travis, eldest son of Principal Seward S. Travis, of the Sayville High School, and Mrs. Travis.
The announcement was made by Miss Dearlove at a luncheon which she gave at the Green Lantern to a number of her fellow members of the faculty, including: Miss Evelyn Crowe, Miss Helen Parker, Miss Florence Tjerdama, Miss Ella Barrar, Miss Marjorie Stidworthy, Miss Florence Sanderson and Miss Thelma Excell.
No time has yet been set for the wedding. Miss Dearlove is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dearlove, of Bath, N. Y. She will return to Sayville another year. Mr. Travis is a night foreman in the Brooklyn refinery of the Standard Oil Company.
