The first of four siblings to Graduate from Sayville High was Winifred May “Freda” Fanning in 1926.

Freda was born 6 Jan 1908 in Liverpool, Metropolitan Borough of Liverpool, Merseyside, England.

Freda died 5 Dec 1997 in Northport, Suffolk County, New York.

The Second of four siblings to Graduate from Sayville High was Eileen Mary Fanning in 1931.

Eileen was born 23 May 1911 in Liverpool, Metropolitan Borough of Liverpool, Merseyside, EnglandEileen died 17 Jan 1994 in Huntington, Suffolk County, New York.

Per Ancestry.com records, Eileen lived at 175 Fox Lane,  Northport, NY, 11768-2809

Neither Winifred or Eileen ever married and they apparently lived together until their deaths, in Northport, NY.

In 1930 census the family lived on East Lake Terrace, Lake Ronkonkoma.

Father, John J. Fanning worked as a Master Mariner in a shipyard.

Mother, Mary Teresa (Hamer) Fanning worked as a Telephone office Operator.

In 1940 census the family all lived at 38-14 218th st, Bayside, Queens, having been there since at least 1935.

Finding Theresa Mary Fanning was a challenge!  I nearly gave up but finally found her married name on the last of her siblings obits that I located in a roundabout way.

Theresa Mary Fanning (b. 30 Aug 1916 in Liverpool, England)

Maurice John Fanning (b. 7 Aug 1914 in Liverpool, England, naturalized 5 Apr, 1938,

Both emigrated from Liverpool in 1920 with British citizenship, listing English race, father John Joseph born in Ireland, mother Mary Teresa born in England.

They had 2 older sisters, Winifred Mary and Eileen Mary  (First and middle names sometimes swapped in records).

 

Maurice is listed as completing high school, worked as a chemist at an oil company.

Mary completed 3 years of college, worked as a stenographer at “General Motors”.

Mary became a naturalized citizen on June 4th, 1940.

She married William J Sutherland (b. 11 Jul 1908)  on 30 Aug 1944

Mary died 17 Jan 1974.

He married Sheila Glen 3 Mar 1945.

Maurice died 12 Aug 2003, Hackensack, NJ.
