Marjorie Jean MacDonell Kuhn-Murphy, Class of 1940

MARJORIE JEAN MacDONELL, Staff Sergeant
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D. T. MacDonell of Sayville,
was born on April 22, 1923, at Sayville.

She was graduated from Sayville High School, Class of 1940, and continued her studies at Oberlin College, Ohio, and at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York.

She enlisted in July 1943 and was called to active duty on September 28, 1943.

She was sent to Daytona Beach, Fla, for basic training and duty with the military police.

She was transferred to Camp Shanks, N. Y, in January 1944 where she worked with the Troop Movement Division of the New York Port of Embarkation until April 1945, at which time she attended the School for Personal Services at Lexington, Va.

She returned to Camp Shanks in May of that year as Chief Clerk in the Information, Orientation and Education Branch of that camp.

She was discharged from Fort Dix, N. J, on January 27, 1946.
