Here is a fascinating historical account of a Sayville Alumni, Lilla Plattenberg.

Lilla was a graduate of the Sayville School system, having received her diploma in 1889.

She subsequently pursued a career in education.

The photograph in question is thought to have been taken around 1914 in Lafayette County, Missouri, by the photographer Algert T. Peterson.

Remarkably, 110 years after its original capture, the image was enhanced and colorized, thanks to the efforts of our dear friend and content contrubutor, Buzzy Gertzen.
