IMPORTANT UPDATE posted 08-01-2022

Can you believe we are 2 months away from our 40th (now 42nd) High School reunion??  It has been a long time coming with the unforeseen pandemic.  Hoping everyone is excited about finally catching up with each other.?

We will be gathering at the Snapper Inn in Oakdale 6-10pm on Saturday, October 1st.  The cost per person is $125 which is the original price booked in August 2019.  We are required to pay for a minimum of 75 guests (the room holds 100) so I’m hoping we can hit at least 70.

I have left a $1000 non-refundable deposit so please spread the news and let’s get as many of our classmates as possible to join us for a wonderful evening of reminiscing and catching up.  As of today, August 1st we have 9 paid which needless to say makes me a bit nervous.  Please send payments on or before September 1st, Thank you!!

Payment can be made to me via Venmo to @alm21523 or Zelle to alm2152@aol.com or the conventional check to my address; 6367 Caicos Court Vero Beach FL 32967.

Please do not select a good or service when sending via Venmo.  Someone choose that I was providing a good or service and it deducted 1.9 % plus $ 0.10 fee (loss of $2.47 per transaction).  I am only collecting the funds to pay the caterer!

We will also be having a gathering on Friday, September 30th 5-9pm at The Sayville Inn in the back room for a nominal cost per person to cover food for those who’d like to spend a little extra time together.  I gave the Inn a guesstimate of 30.  If you are planning to join on Friday, just drop me a message so I can give them an accurate count.  Thinking it will be about $20 per person.

IMPORTANT UPDATE posted 04-05-2022

Class of 1980, so here is our latest update on our reunion on;

October 1st, 2022.

Snapper Inn has confirmed the price quoted in August 2019 will be honored.? Therefore, the price per person will still be $125. It will be a buffet with open bar which includes top shelf alcohol from 6-10pm. The room holds 100 with a guarantee of 75.

Hoping to do a get together Friday evening for those interested in breaking the ice before Saturday. Maybe even a Sunday family day with BYO food/drinks, looking at maybe being able to use the Long Island Maritime Museum property where there are 2 covered pavillons.

I’ve contacted 2 hotels, the Hilton Garden Inn on Vets Hwy in Ronkonkoma and the Hampton Inn on Vets Hwy in Islandia. The Hilton Garden Inn normally charges $300 per night but will block up to 15 rooms at $229 per night for 9/30 and 10/1. The Hampton Inn normally charges $180 per night but would not quote a block rate unless I knew how many rooms would be needed. If you are interested in the hotel option, please let me know by 4/18 so I can get an actual room need.

Thinking many still have family in the area and others might find it cheaper to book an Airbnb.

I’ll be setting up Venmo and Zelle for payment or a check can always be mailed for those who prefer the good old days? More to follow shortly!

REUNION POSTPOSED FOR A YEAR DUE TO COVID

 

New Date:  October 2nd, 2021.

Good Afternoon All!

 

With Covid-19 still raging across most of the country and no ability to determine when things might be safe for travel, we will err on the side of caution. Please stay safe!

 

Our upcoming 40th reunion originally scheduled for October 3rd, 2020 has officially been postponed until October 2nd, 2021.

 

Snapper Inn is happily honoring our price and deposit with the new date! We
would love to see as many of you as possible to celebrate our 40th and 41st!

 

Since we have lots more time, it would be great to collect everyone’s email/address/phone. It would also be nice if you’d like to put a synopsis of what you’ve been up to these past 40 years! (Career, Spouse, Kids, Grandkids, etc) I’d love to put together a booklet like we have had done at the 10th & 20th reunions.

Class of 1980 Reunion - October 3, 2020

Okay… it’s been quite some time since we all hung out!

Sayville High School Class of 1980 – 40th Reunion

 

It’s hard to believe it is almost time to celebrate 40 years since graduation! Where has the time gone? Many are still close and yet others have ventured far and wide. Our past reunions have been summer events. This time we think fall would be a nice change.

 

There is much in the planning stages but we’ve selected a venue and date for the main event. Obviously weddings seem to take most of the available dates so we want to get a head start. Snapper Inn, Oakdale Saturday evening October 3, 2020. $125 per person will include buffet and Top Shelf Open Bar with taxes and gratuity inclusive.

 

Please save the date and pass the word!! We have a room reserved that will accommodate 100. Additional plans are being made for Friday evening and Sunday to maximize our time together for those who might be interested.
Looking forward to seeing as many of our classmates as possible.
