It is truly devastating to lose three brothers and a sister.
Among them, Dwight Denton is now the sole surviving sibling. Dwight recently informed us about the passing of his brother Ronald C. “Ron” Denton, who was a member of the Class of 1958. Ron passed away on 3/15/2004 in Chambersburg, PA. He was born on 10/7/1940 in Rockville Centre, N.Y., the son of Walter Raynor Denton, Jr. and Sybil Louise (Groome) Denton. The Denton family on Long Island dates back to the 1700’s.
Ron married his high school sweetheart Carole Nash, who was a member of the Class of 1960 at Sayville High. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last, and Dwight has also mentioned that Carole has since passed away.
Ron had three other siblings: Robert Walter “Bob” Denton, who was a member of the Class of 1953, Dawn Margaret (Denton) Usher, who was a member of the Class of 1955, and Brian Richard “Sparky” Denton, who was a member of the Class of 1967. Dwight expressed “it sure is lonely.”
Ron served as a Veteran in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during his marriage to Carole Nash. Bob, another sibling, also served as a Veteran in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the St Lawrence River with the Army Corps of Engineers.
We extend our sympathies to the family, friends, coworkers, and students of Ron Denton. On their birthdays, we will honor the memory of all the Denton siblings, hoping it brings solace to those who cherished them.
If you believe in the power of prayer, Dwight Denton could certainly use one.
