The passing of Betsey Beebe (Smith) Nixon, Class of 1949.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Betsey Beebe (Smith) Nixon, Class of 1949.

Betsey graduated from her hometown Sayville High School in 1949 and from Dean Junior College in Franklin, MA, where she met the love of her life, Howie Sr., a star swimmer and “the boy in the yellow sneakers.” She also attended the New York School for Interior Design. Betsey inherited an artistic talent and an eye for the aesthetics from her father, a renowned commercial artist, and successful author. At every stage in her life, she applied her artistic talent and skill with interior design to beautify the world around her. Betsey passed along her love of gardening, knitting, quilting, and other artistic endeavors to her children and grandchildren.

We extend our sincere sympathies to Betsey’s family, friends, and classmates.

As you can see from the beautiful obituary (link below), Betsey was a special person who touched the lives of so many people.
