The passing of Mary (Ciccarello) Halverson, Class of 1960 on May 7, 2023
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Mary (Ciccarello) Halverson, Class of 1960 on May 7, 2023 at 81. Today, Dan Meier, our class liaison, informed us of Mary’s passing. Mary was born on March 1, 1942 in Queens, New York.
The Molony Funeral Home published in its obituary that Mary is survived by her five (5) sisters Rosalie, Josephine, Catherine, Theresa and Cecelia. She is also survived by her four (4) children John, Joseph, Thomas, Catherine, and seven (7) step-children, Robert, Edward, Donald, Judy, Peggy, Kathleen and John. In addition, she has twenty-six (26) grandchildren and twelve (12) great-grandchildren.
Mary was the matriarch of an ever-growing family and will be missed beyond measure. She was a selfless woman who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She spent her days cooking, homemaking, organizing parties and “spoiling” her grandchildren. She lived for boat rides, beach days, cozy nights and a dry martini every now and then.
Mary was a force. She had a captivating personality, a tremendous work ethic, an infectious smile, and an enormous heart.
Throughout her life, Mary will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, for her unconditional love, and for the way in which she spread joy and warmth to those around her. She will be deeply missed. We will remember her at the Sayville Alumni Association every year on her birthday.
