Per our historian Thomas McMahon, “After (Sayville) high school Catherine attended Syracuse University and the Pulitzer School of Journalism at Columbia University. She returned to the newspaper first as its bookkeeper. Then she and her sister owned and ran the Suffolk County News when their father passed. She wrote the Ancient History column. She retired and sold the paper in 1968, she married and moved to California, where she passed in 1994 at 85”.
Our Historians researched Catherine and she is now added to our birthday remembrances and virtual cemeteries. We will remember Catherine annually on her birthday!
A very special thank you Janet (Donadio) Cozza, Class of 1977 and retired Sayville Schools teacher, who researched Catherine for us. Also a very special thank you to Thomas McMahon, Class of 1970!
