Rev. Gregg Smith, Class of 1977

In response to our request for news of accomlishments, positive items and “tell us about yourself”, Gregg Smith, Class of 1977 has kindly provided a brief overview of his life.

 

Graduated Sayville High School in 1977.

Joined the USAF in 1978 as an Air Traffic Controller.

Married Gail Marie Hoffman in Nov 1978, she was a Sayville high school 1978 graduate. We divorced in 1986.

Stationed in Bergstrom AFB, Austin TX from 1978 till late 1979.

Stationed at a remote radar site in Galena Alaska from late 79-late 1980. Our job there was vectoring our fighters into Russian bombers.

Stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas from late 1980 till late 1986.

Met his wife Regena Gail Smith in Las Vegas 1984, they married in 1986 and are still happily married today.

Stationed at March AFB in Riverside CA in late 1986.

Lived in the mountain community of Lake Gregory CA and loved it.

Left for the Untied Kingdom in late 1989 at RAF Bentwaters AFB in Suffolk England. It was our best assignment.

Stationed at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota in late 1993 for.

Gail retired from the USAF in 1994

Gregg retired in 1998.

Left the Grand Forks are in 1999 and took jobs as Air Traffic controllers in Minot ND until 2012 until we both retired from Air Traffic Control.

Became a pastor of a church in 2012 and pastured the church until 2020 and we retired from that.

Moved to the mountains of South East Tennessee in May of 2021 and love it there!

 

 

Educational accomplishments.

Graduated Embry Riddle Areonautical University with associate degrees in Air Traffic Control and Airport management.

Graduated Morning Star School of Ministry with an associate degree in biblical studies.

Graduated Grace Institute of Biblical Studies with a Seminary degree in church history.
