A few days ago, we asked; “Can you name this amazing alumna who enlisted in the US Navy WAVES during World War II? In the next post, will be a letter she wrote back home to the Suffolk County News in 1943.”

The answer is Virginia (Wolfe) Main, Born June 19, 1920 in Manhattan, New York and died July 5, 2009 (aged 89) Fremont, Alameda County, California.

She was the daughter of Charles and Frances Wolfe. They lived at 99 Candee Ave, Sayville.

The 1940 census shows Virginia working for a casket company.

Virginia served three years in the WAVES and married Robert Morris Main on August 3, 1945.

Virginia and Robert are buried in Washington Colony Cemetery, Fresno, Fresno County, California.
