96 year-old Alberta Woodcock, Class of 1940 passes…

96 year-old Alberta Woodcock, Class of 1940 passes…

We have learned that our beautiful classmate from 1940, Myra Alberta Woodcock Canonico (who in Sayville High School went by her middle name Alberta) passed away a few months ago on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in LaGrange, GA at the age of 96.

Alberta was born August 3, 1922 in Huntington, NY to the late Albert Edward Woodcock and Edna May (Gould) Woodcock.

Alberta married Louis G. Valentine in 1940. Louis passed away in 1965. She married Frank Canonico in 1969.

She was a CNA for a nursing home in Smithtown, New York and a Dental Technician in Farmingville, New York. She was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Tequesta, FL. Myra Alberta enjoyed knitting sweaters for the grandchildren in her younger years along with bowling and playing the organ.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Canonico who passed away in 1996; son, Louis Gerald Valentine and daughter, Patricia Valentine. She is survived by children, Robert Valentine and his wife Roseanna, John Valentine, Bonnie and her husband Sam and step daughter Elaine. She is also survived by grandchildren, Nick (Marieta) Valentine, David Johnston, Cheryl (Alan) Pettus, Gordon (Cheryl Ann) Valentine, Bobby Valentine, Trudy (Fay) Moore, Charles (Amanda) Coffin, Christopher (Lauren) Canonico, Aric (Sara) Canonico, Michael James, Raymond Leary, Michael Leary; 24 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
