Sayville, New York – The Class of 1960 is searching for answers about one of their own.
Patricia Mega, daughter of Henry (1904–1971) and Mrs. Mega of Bohemia, walked the halls of Sayville High School and graduated with her classmates in 1960.
Records suggest she was born on July 29, 1942, but no official documentation has been found. After high school, she pursued nursing, graduating from Caledonia Nursing School in Brooklyn in 1961, and briefly worked there before vanishing from public records.
Rumors persist that she married Steven Smith in 1961, but the trail goes cold after that.
The Class of 1960 has confirmed her passing, yet the dates and locations of her birth, death, and final resting place remain a mystery.
Did Patricia move away? Did she change her name again? What happened in the years after her nursing career began?
We call upon historians, genealogists, and local archivists to help piece together Patricia’s story.
The Sayville Alumni Association wish to honor her with a memorial page and include her in their birthday remembrance announcements—but first, they must uncover the truth.
If you have any information about Patricia (Mega) Smith, please come forward. Let’s ensure she is remembered!
