Daryl A. Burrer July 3, 2019 Daryl A. Burrer, 57, of Baldwinsville passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2019 surrounded in love by his wife and children.
Born in Ohio, he graduated from Sayville High School in Long Island, NY. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Binghamton University and a Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After his Masters he spent 18 months in Japan teaching English as a second language. Daryl retired from Liverpool School District June 2018 after 30 years where he taught AP Economics and Government.
He was also the advisor for Academic Decathlon for many years. He was an excellent teacher who was well-respected by his former students and colleagues. Many thanks to them for their generous love and support during this difficult time. He had a love of travel and the outdoors, National Parks and historic places being favorites. Many vacations were spent in Maine and the Outer Banks in NC. He, his wife and children were also quite fond of cruises of which they took many.
But probably his greatest joy was time spent cheering on his son and daughter at their sport events. He was a Baldwinsville Youth Soccer Association coach (BYSA) for both his son and daughter for many years. He spent countless hours at the park tossing baseballs with his son and practicing soccer skills with his daughter. His proudest moments were when his son's club soccer team won State cup and his daughter's varsity soccer school team won the State championship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Christine McElwain Burrer; his children Alexander Richard Burrer and Leah Carolyn Burrer of Baldwinsville; parents Richard L and Donna J Burrer of Ocala Florida and Baldwinsville; sisters Diane ( Michael) Eubank of Baldwinsville, NY and Darleen (Toby) Hopkins of Dalonega, GA; nieces Megan Eubank and Michelle Eubank of Baldwinsville; nephews Jacob Hopkins and Josh Hopkins of Dalonega, GA and Derek McElwain of Massena, NY; brothers in-law Brian (Rebecca) McElwain and John McElwain.
The Burrer family would like to express sincere gratitude to the love and support from the Liverpool teachers, U16 SDA club soccer team, girls Baldwinsville varsity soccer team and family friends. Your outpouring of love has been felt by all of us. As per Daryl's wishes, services will be kept private for family and close friends.

Daughter of Gerritt Vanderborgh and Alice Lieuwen, second wife of Francis Hoag.
Obituary – Mrs. Alida Vanderborgh Hoag, aged 58, of 153 Candee Avenue, Sayville, died suddenly Saturday, June 22, in Southside Hospital, Bay Shore as a result of complications that followed a tonsil removal four hours earlier.
Mrs. Hoag, wife of Francis Hoag, owner and editor of The Suffolk County News, a Sayville weekly newspaper, was born in West Sayville, a daughter of the late Gerrit and Alice Lieuwen Vanderborgh and was a lifelong resident of Sayville and West Sayville.
A graduate of Sayville High School, she had been associated with The Suffolk County News for 26 years in the capacity of secretary to Mr. Hoag, whom she married six years ago, following the death of his first wife.
Mrs. Hoag was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church and of Bethesda Rebekah Lodge, both of Sayville.
Besides her husband, she leaves a brother, Henry Vanderborgh of West Sayville; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Jane Hoag Pierce, of Baton Rouge, La., Miss Marion L. Hoag and Miss Catherine E. Hoag, both of Sayville and several nieces and nephews, including Dr. George H. Vanderborgh, of Sayville and Mrs. Alice Tamminga of Denver, Colo.
